Today is my birthday. The big 4-0. Some people may be bummed or depressed to turn 40, but I don't have any problem with it. It is what it is. By the time you reach 40, you are mature, sure of yourself, you know who yours friends are, and hopefully you know what kind of person you want to be. Things roll off your back a little better and don't bother you as much. Except the kids and their crazy antics, that still gets to me.
I got to sleep in this morning, which was a great start to the day. My wonderful husband gave me two amazing presents. A plane ticket to Dallas so I can come back an visit my friends in a couple of months and destress from the move and tickets for me and three of my friends to go see the Barenaked Ladies concert. What more could I ask for? The kids also gave me the latest BNL CD.
We ran errands this afternoon because there was an Open House at our house and then this evening we invited some of our friends out for bowling and pizza and cake. Nothing big or glamorous of fancy, but perfect just the same. A fun evening I won't soon forget.
To top it off, we accepted an offer on our house today. We still have to go through the option period and survive the inspection, but we are hopeful that this is a step in the right direction and we can start to plan our move.
So far, 40 isn't that bad.
