Copy Cat

Now that Amanda is starting to say more words, she's also starting to repeat more. All of us are constantly saying, "can you say blank?" as you saw from my last post. Sometimes she's spot on and other times not even close. But she's paying attention to everything we say and do and trying to copy as much as possible. Sometimes, though, it's not in a good way.

The other night we sat down to dinner and Charlie was serving. He scooped out a big spoonful of casserole and some fell on the table. Without even thinking he said, "Shoot". Luckily it was him and not me because I probably would have said something much worse, I'm especially bad about that lately. Immediately after saying it Amanda piped up with "Shoot".

We just looked at each other and laughed, knowing how it works. Kids are smart and they pick up on things quickly, especially things said with some emphasis, and tend to repeat them when you'd least like them to. It didn't take her long, however. Later on during dinner she was trying to scoop some up in her spoon and it fell on the table. Without missing a beat she said, "Shoot". Amazing.

As if she wasn't already, this one is going to keep us on our toes.
